Ipsos is a fairly small resort located on the east coast of the island of Corfu. Ipsos lies just to the north of the larger resort of Gouvia and is approximately 12 miles (20km) north of Corfu Town. The main resort of Ipsos stretches along the coastal road before and at the norther end of the bay you will find the older and more authentic village of Pyrgi. I noticed that some web sites are reporting that Ipsos is a bit of a party resort. Well having taken my family there a couple of years ago I can personally report that this is a resort more aimed at families than hedonistic party going youngsters who would be better advised to head for Kavos if they are into serious clubbing. There are a couple of nightclubs/discos set on the coast road to keep the youngsters happy but clubland it is not.
The northern end of the Ipsos coastal strip road sees the entrance to Pyrgi (or Pirgi) which has far more of an authentic Greek fel about it than Ipsos. If you are looking for a traditional Taverna, then Pyrgi is where you should head in fact there is a lovely taverna set right by the sea, with a jetty. Very convenient for any of the boating fraternity who have moored their yachts nearby.
